C4D Focus/Experience
Experience with the World Bank and UNICEF, including numerous NGOs worldwide. Presentations and publications in three languages at international conferences on behavior communications strategies. With key officials have prepared national communication strategies and national policies / documents in over a dozen countries. Specializations: Ebola, malaria, HIV/AIDS, STDs, maternal health care, nutrition, WASH, cholera, family planning, polio, H1N1, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and hospital management.
Role
My organizational base is extensive having consulted with 25 health NGOs and international organizations. My responsibilities have ranged from Country Director, to Hospital Director, to BCC consultant responsible for interventions in communicable diseases. I have been responsible for writing proposals, designing and implementing evidence based health communication programs utilizing the participatory process. Extensive experience in multi-media formats (radio, TV, film, training, outreach, school curricula, songs, sports events, theater shows, counseling) and targeting general population and/or specific groups with messages based on scientific research, behavior change communication theory and best practices. The process ranges from assessments and surveys, to communication strategy development, to key message testing, synchronizing media PSAs and on-going learning from evaluation. I have developed numerous behavior change training and social engagement products that actively utilize members of the community in the process with a holistic approach. Training and involvement can occur at all levels of society (school children, government officials, religious organizations, CBOs and individuals) or target specif groups, depending on the national strategic approach. My communication 4 development work has been funded, peer reviewed and published in French, Spanish and English. At international conferences I have made key presentations in three languages. The Linked-In Behavior Change Communications Group that I founded and manage has +1200 members.
