C4D Focus/Experience

I have been working for more than 15 years on violence prevention for children and youth in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North Africa as well as for UNICEF, the German International Cooperation and NGOs. Previous work with UNICEF included consultancies in child protection with a strong focus on behavior change communication, social mobilization and advocacy. I have designed, implemented and evaluated communication and advocacy strategies that were always focused on prevention of violence against children, such as child abuse, human trafficking, violence against children living on streets, illegal adoptions, female genital mutilation and child labor in Asia, North Africa and Latin America. For UNICEF Vietnam and UNICEF China for example, I evaluated past and current behavior change communication, social mobilization and advocacy strategies on prevention of girls trafficking based on field research and desk reviews, and developed based on this the first ever, internationally recognized cross border strategy. For the German Technical Cooperation , I evaluated the youth responsiveness of the large Peace Program CERCAPAZ in Colombia and the regional program on prevention of juvenile violence in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. The UNICEF and GTZ- researches, I have conducted through desk reviews and field investigations have so far all led to groundbreaking shifts in programming for children at risk.
