C4D Focus/Experience

Our C4D efforts in the Philippines are largely focused on promoting the Filipino children's voice in the communities we serve through child-focused programs and enabling of community-based organizations to champion the children's cause and issues. Our recent C4D-related projects may seem to be in its pioneering stage, however we realized we have been practicing development communications all along through child-led clubs and conferences to reinforce children's rights, children's participation and active citizenship to push for positive governance. With the increasing convergence of technology and communications through Internet and social media, the children inevitably become the most important sector in harnessing communications and participation for their desired development ends. Children, through the arts and media, have also emerged to be the potent voice to engage the influentials and key movers of society from the village level to the national structures. We hope to strengthen the role of our communications team as facilitators, more than traditional producers who have been used to the extractive role, as we hear less of our agenda and draw more from the community's voice -- what stories they want to be heard and how they wanted them to be told.
