C4D Focus/Experience

I have experience in Communication for Development especially using participatory radio for development. I know how to use radio in communicating different development issues, be it agricultural, environmental and others. In Malawi, a developing country, radio is the best communication media that reaches a bigger percentage of people at once.

Role

I am currently a freelance consultant bearing the company name, Info-Exchange Agency. I have just finished a UK Aid and Practical Actions funded project on Agricultural Policy inform of Participatory Radio Discussion which was on air on MBC radio one from September 2013 to January 2014 titled ‘Pressing Issues in Rural Development and Farming in Malawi.’ In local language CHULUKE-CHULUKE. I have been a media and communications manager for Story Workshop, the 2010 ALINe farmers voice award winner. I am a Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), and Farmer Radio international 2009 media award winner. Both gave me award as a best agricultural journalist 2009 while at Story Workshop. For more information www.farmradio.org/english/partners/news and http://annualseminar2009.cta.int/award. I have developed passion in development communication and agricultural issues, so now I am at University of Malawi's Bunda college of Agriculture doing masters in Rural Development and Extension. I have also been a trainer in participatory radio programming in safe motherhood projects for commonwealth of Learning.
