C4D Focus/Experience
I am a PhD Candidate in Communication Sciences - ICT4D, at the University of Lugano. My research aims to investigate conceptualizations of Community Multimedia Centres (public access venues formed by a community radio and a telecentre) in Mozambique. The focus is to understand misalignements in the understanding of these venues among different stakeholders. Social representation framework is employed, and states that conceptualizations derive from communication. The outcomes of the research will be used to participatory design and implement actions to improve the venues. My research interests lay on the social meanings attributed to ICTs and public access to ICTs venues, combining qualitative and quantitative methods.
