  • Hi Catherine

would you be able to give me your email address so that we can liaise further? I can be reached at tait.brimacombe@adelaide.edu.au I would love to discuss this matter with you further.

I was also wondering about the visa avenue you used when you entered Fiji and whether you are on a business visa or in a volunteer capacity of some kind. This is a process that I am currently trying to negotiate!

    Thanks again,

    Tait

  • Hi Catherine

Thanks for getting in touch. Throughout my fieldwork I am hoping to collate a number of case studies of organisations and/or projects operating throughout various locations in the South Pacific and explore how their work tackles issues of gender equality through communication for development and/or communication technology tools. Through this process I hope to be able to articulate the scope of projects operating in this area and present either some observations of best practice or a collection of the challenges faced for future research.

I head to Vanuatu for a couple of months in the coming weeks and then I hope to spend some time in Fiji in June/July of this year. I'm made some preliminary contact with FemLINK Pacific who I hope to work with closely throughout my research but am also hoping to work closely with a number of other organisations as well to compare the ways in which different projects operate. I would love the opportunity to conduct some research with the national council of women. Do you think this is something that would be feasible? I'm very willing to be of any assistance I can be to such organisations throughout my research as well, as I realise this can be best achieved through a 'give and take' relationship.

    Thanks,
    Tait
